Mendon Country Gift Barn

Mendon Country Gift Barn
Identity/Branding

The owners of this charming retail store needed to learn why their business wasn't attracting the "right" customer. Located inside a renovated dairy barn, this store features furniture, gifts and home accessories geared toward, and displayed in, a fashionable country aesthetic. While ample resources were already dedicated to marketing and promotion of this family-run business, the results weren't meeting expectations. It seemed that people thought the Gift Barn was a bargain-type retail outlet instead of an upscale shopping destination.

When creating design solutions for the Gift Barn's brand makeover, we focused on elements that were inviting, fresh, bright, clean and, of course, country inspired. Utilizing dynamic colors, illustrations and thematic imagery more accurately represented what the Gift Barn is all about: high quality merchandise offered in a delightful setting by helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Packaging that reinforces the brand was an appealing option – it speaks country.

Mendon Country Gift Barn's original logo featured a graphic of the dairy barn in which the gift store resides—not exactly representative of what customers would find inside. The new design is colorful and illustrates what the store carries: country-inspired gifts, furniture and home accessories.

This wagon is a prominent figure on the Mendon Country Gift Barn's front lawn and serves as signage. Originally painted in dark, brooding colors, the wagon was transformed into a friendly, inviting attraction by incorporating the new logo and bright color scheme.

Marketing materials were revitalized with bright colors, charming illustrations and country images that more accurately depicted the store's delightful atmosphere and picturesque location.

This newspaper campaign was very versatile, spanning a full year of holidays, sales and special events held at the store. Bill, the store manager even modeled for the Father's Day ad.
